Mothers and Babies Online (eMB)
Mothers and Babies Online (eMB) is a pilot study that started in 2022 in partnership with Palo Alto University and funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). eMB pilot study examines how an internet-based version of Mothers and Babies (“eMB”) can be delivered in the context of home visiting (HV) programs that serve pregnant individuals and new mothers across the United States. This study uses a user-centered design (UCD) approach to collect data from home visiting stakeholders to modify eMB content and delivery for use in HV programs. Subsequently, a small, randomized trial is being conducted to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of eMB when implemented in home visiting programs. eMB is a self-paced asynchronous version of Mothers and Babies where parents’ complete Mothers and Babies sessions on their own and their Home Visitors provides brief coaching sessions. Based on the findings from this pilot, the eMB team anticipates being able to submit an R01 application to conduct a larger, more rigorous examination of eMB implemented within home visiting programs.
